Digipak Further Ideas

Here is a picture of my further Digipak Ideas that is current a work in progress. I am going to choose a concept for the digipak from these two ideas, most likely the one with the actors face on. After I have chosen I am going to take photos and start developing my Digipak and also my Advert.

In todays lesson I have fleshed out two of my initial ideas for the digipak. I will upload it later after I fully finish the second one. I will try and get photographs for my idea sometime in the next few days.

Digipak Initial Ideas

In these pictures you can see my initial ideas for my Digipak. Each one is just a concept for the front cover in a certain style. I will choose one of these or another concept and then start drawing up the 6 pages of the digipak so I can start designing it.

Rough Cut 1

This is around 30 seconds of shots that I cut together in the lesson of Friday 04/12/15.
Things I need to improve on my rough cut are finishing all the shots, adding more movement to shots and a variety of shots instead of all close ups.

Video Rush 1

Here are my images from my first video rush. This is the shots I managed to get. I have imported them onto the Mac ready to put them in Final Cut and begin my first Rough Cut.

Record Logo

I have created my logo for my mock Record company with photoshop.

Audience Research Analysis

The results from my age range question show that about 45% of my audience are in the 17-21 age range. There are around 20% in the 12-16 age range and around 20% in the 22-26 age range. This leaves the 27-35 age range with the remaining percentage, with the other two age ranges being left unanswered. This shows the audience I should try and cater to with my video. My audience does not include very young children or adults over 35, therefore my video can contain quite mature themes and concepts.

These results show that pop and indie rock have the tied majority of votes. As my chosen song for my music video is a mix between the two, Indie Pop, this will mean my music video should cater to the audience very well, having the most fans from the people I have surveyed.

The results for question 3 show that that Concept just edges out Narrative for my audiences favourite style of video. Performance comes in last place. My chosen style of music video will be narrative, but it is quite concept driven with my metaphorical Depression character. This means my audience should be very interested in my video. I will have no performance in my video which should not have too much of an effect as it was least ranked for favourite style of video.

In this question I tried to gather information on how much lip synch people prefer. I could have improved this question by letting the audience specify just how much lip synch they like to have in their music videos. The information I did gather shows that half lip synch is mostly preferred by the majority of the audience. My video will have full lip synch which is the second-most preferred option.

The choices were; Compelling story line, Favourite artist is performing, interesting mise en scene, interesting concept in the video.
The information gathered in this question shows me that interesting concept and favourite artist are the most popular choices for making a music video enjoyable. One surprising result was that compelling story line was one of the least picked options. However, concept was one of the highest which fits in with my music video.

Lesson Progress 5/11/15

I have finished writing up my Primary Audience Research and have began the analysis of the results from the survey. I uploaded screenshots to my Primary Audience Research.

Primary Audience Research

The screenshots below are the builder section of the survey creation website, Survey Monkey. I chose this website as it had a free signup unlike a lot of other survey websites. Another reason I chose Survey Monkey is due to the excellent options and customisability as can be seen in my screenshots. Question 1: What is your age range? I chose this question because I wanted to get an accurate reading of different preferences of certain age ranges. This is because I want to market my video to the 12-16, 17-21 and 22-26 age ranges.

Question 2: What from the following is your favourite genre?

This question was to view the opinions of the people that chose the specific genre of video I will be creating. This will help me tailor my video expertly to them.

Question 3: Within your selected genre, what is your favourite style of music video? Rank the choices from most to least liked.

I chose this question to get even more accurate results within the genre for what style of video is preferred, performance, concept or narrative.

Question 4: How much lip sync would you like to see in music videos?

This question was put in my survey to find out how much lip sync people preferred and this will affect how much I lip sync I put in my video.

Question 5: What makes a music video enjoyable for you?

I put this question on because it shows me what to strive for and focus on in my video, whether it be a good storyline or interesting concept.

Question 6: What is your favourite music video?

This question enabled me to view the audiences favourite videos and gain some inspiration for my own music video.
